The Alliance of Christian Religious Education (ACRE), in conjunction with Mackay ACRE Sub-Committee (Mackay ASC), is seeking to employ a part-time Christian Religious Instructor (RI) to join their team in the Mackay Local Government Area (Mackay and District).

About the Alliance of Christian Religious Education (ACRE)

The Alliance of Christian Religious Education (ACRE) was established in June 2019, arising from an agreed commitment by Queensland Heads of Churches. ACRE is the lead organisation for Christian Religious Instruction (RI) in Queensland State Schools. ACRE acts as the strategic advisor on all Christian RI matters, and positions RI effectively with all stakeholders: the Christian church, parents/carers, RI grass roots leaders, volunteers and networks, the RI sector Multi-Faiths Network and other faiths, Department of Education, Government Ministers, bipartisan political parties, and the community in Queensland.

The Alliance is made up of members from Christian Denominations and Independent Churches.

About the role

We are seeking a Christian RI Instructor based in Mackay. The position is a part-time position working 1-3 day/s per week during school hours in term time.

The role of a Christian RI Instructor is to provide 30 – 60 minute Christian religious instruction classes to students in Yr 1-6 in Mackay and District State Schools, ensuring all lessons are delivered to a high standard and professionally, adhering to the provided credentialled curriculum. The role includes:

·Teaching Christian RI classes during school hours in term time, as agreed to by the Mackay ASC and the nominated schools

·Teaching Christian RI using the agreed and provided curriculum, and in accordance with State Legislation and Department of Education policies

·The role requires on-campus lessons in State Schools for years 1-6 during term time

The position would suit a candidate from Church or Education sectors, and/or those with current Religious Instruction experience.

The ideal candidate would demonstrate the following attributes:

● Christian character and active commitment to their local church.

● An ability to effectively help young people question, explore and discover Jesus through engaging bible lessons

● High level interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, support and encourage others.

● Works well in an inter-denominational group within a state school context.

● Strong organisational skills, punctual and reliable

● A commitment to accountability

Upon employment – the candidate would:

· Obtain a Paid Employee Blue Card or Exemption Card

· Complete the state-wide Christian RI Foundations Training (3 modules)

· Complete annual Department of Education Mandatory All-Staff Training program

· Be expected to attend the annual Christian RI training days

· Complete local church’s Child Safe training
